Women’s Ministry Upcoming Events

Women’s Ministry Upcoming Events:

Women’s Summer BrunchSunday, June 6th  10am to 12pm,
at Shirley Torrez home in Riverside, CA.

The food and beverages will be provided and there will be no charge.
We have  a very special  guest speaker, Erna Maier.
Erna’s brother, Jacob Hiebert, recently published a book  about their life story as Seventh-Day Adventist Christians  surviving Nazi Germany.  The book is “Journey’s Freedom”  by Erna’s brother, Jacob Hiebert.
Here is an excerpt from the book:

“We felt quite sure that we were still going in the right direction when, all of a sudden, we noticed the form of a man dressed in a uniform approaching us. Our hearts sank as we thought of what was about to take place. Had we come so far only to be sent back, or worse, lose our life? My father took the lead, and as the officer was now in clear view, he asked, ‘Are you escaping?’ What could my father say? It was quite obvious what our intention was. Father’s reply was, ‘Yes.'”

“Find inspiration in this heart-stopping journey of a family who was determined to follow God no matter what. It was illegal to be a Christian under communism, but that did not stop the Hiebert family, who, like Daniel’s three friends, said, “our God whom we serve is able to deliver us” (Dan. 3:17). Witness the unmistakable providences of God in this faith-building narrative of God’s care for His children. We serve a great God who takes note of our daily encounters of life. When life appears to be hopeless all around, there is Someone greater to turn to who will never leave us though we may face severe trials, persecution, or even the difficulties of daily struggles. The author’s desire is that readers will be touched by God’s leading and develop a greater trust in God as they travel life’s journey.”

If you have an interest in purchasing a book, you can go to BarnesandNoble.com. I saw that there is only one available on Amazon at this time. Erna will be pleased to sign the books at the event. Her story and pictures are all throughout the book as well as her brother’s.  And, as she told me, she is the oldest, so remembers even more than her younger brother. She will share how her family’s faith in God brought them through very difficult times in their lives. And, how they experienced one miracle after another.  Don’t miss the chance to meet Erna and hear her story.

Please reply to this email and let me know  if you plan on attending. If you are bringing a friend or daughter, please send me the names of all who will be attending. If you rsvp and need to cancel, please let me know asap.

It is important we know at least a week in advance or earlier, since we will be purchasing food for the event. We are planning on being on the patio in the shade unless it is too hot. Otherwise,  it will be indoors.

RSVP ASAP as space is limited. I will send the address once I receive your RSVP.

We will be planning future Women’s Ministry Brunches quarterly that will be at various homes/locations and each attendee can bring something to share for the potluck. We will have a theme and ask that it be plant-based. We will be inviting various women guest speakers as well. Please let me know if you want  to host a Sunday Brunch and Potluck at your home. We are always looking for volunteers as well. ☺

Women’s Ministry Bible Study   Tuesday, June 15th from 6:30pm -7:30pmLocation TBA

The Bible Study will be focusing on “Last Day Events” and the books of Daniel and  Revelation. This will be an in depth study with reading and homework and a video to watch during the week to prepare for the next study. Because of this, we decided to begin holding the Bible study bi-weekly for now. We may go to weekly if we find there is an interest and everyone is keeping up with the studies and videos. This will be a long term Bible Study. We have ordered the materials and will be putting together work books to go with the study. The location is yet to be determined. We are considering the Fellowship Hall at Mentone Church or we will hold the Bible study at one of our homes. Please let me know if you have an interest in hosting the Bible Study at your home. If there are enough people interested in hosting, we can rotate every other week. If you have an interest in joining us for the Bible study, please RSVP ASAP and you will be notified with the location and address of the first study.   We need to know if you plan on attending in advanceso that we can get the materials together for you. Also, let me know if there is an interest in a Zoom meeting for this Bible Study. We look forward to getting together real soon! Any questions, let me know!
