Three Angels' Messages Part 2
Thanks for joining us, as we continue to study the critical messages of the three angels, given in Revelation 14:6-12. Imagine someone, totally unfamiliar to western culture, coming to our shores and watching an American football game. How confusing it would seem! They might ask, “What’s going on? Why are they doing that? Why is everyone cheering now? Why is that player celebrating?” Without knowing the purposes and strategies associated with that game, a football contest might seem like total confusion.
We’ve ridden in trains through India and watched kids playing cricket, and we’ve tried to understand how the game is played. Without knowing the nuances of strategy, it’s hard to figure out what’s going on. Observing a game like that without knowing the objectives is hard enough, but what would be worse would be to be thrown onto the playing field and expected to perform, without knowing what you’re supposed to be doing!
In a similar way, without knowing “what’s going on,” life on this planet can appear confusing and perplexing, like the “wheels within wheels” that Ezekiel saw in vision. The good news is that God wants us to understand what is happening. If fact, He wants us to know what has happened in the past, what is going on now, and what can be expected in the future. He intends that this information be clear enough so that all can have an intelligent understanding of “what’s going on.”
Habakkuk was told to, “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.” Habakkuk 2:2. The idea conveyed in the Hebrew of that text is not that a person who is jogging can understand or share it, but “that a person may read it fluently,” that is, smoothly and easily. We pray that this study will be of that character. The Bible is the Book that opens our minds to see what is happening behind the scenes. The Scriptures explain why this sad and troubled world appears as it does today. Thankfully, it also reveals to us that God has a plan for this planet. It tells us how we may receive salvation by grace and through faith, and one day be taken to heaven when Jesus comes. God loved us so much that He sent His divine Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. He really wants us to be saved and live with Him!
Of all the important messages that Revelation contains, indeed the entire Bible, no passage is of greater significance today than the messages of the three angels given in Revelation 14, in the heart of the last book of the Bible. These messages, like no others, put into the spotlight the issues that face our globe as the era of sin comes to its close. They tell us how we may align ourselves with the winning team. That’s of critical importance!
They are particularly geared for the period just prior to the return of our Lord to this earth. There could be nothing of greater and more urgent meaning to our world right now, nothing of which we should have a clearer understanding, than the messages of these three angels. But, if you were to go out on the street and ask those who passed by, “Do you know what the messages of the three angels are?” how many would have any clue what you are talking about? How many preachers today could give you an answer?
The purpose of this study is to give emphasis to these three messages. It is to make them understandable and easy to comprehend. It is hoped that anyone, old or young, reading this material will know what these messages are about, and not just digest the information but gladly follow the light given within them. Remember, the blessing pronounced in the opening verses of Revelation is given to those who read, hear and keep those things written therein. If we don’t apply to our lives the messages from the Bible we learn, it does us no good. Rejected light becomes darkness. May God give us wisdom as we seek Him and His truth!
