Mission Matters July 28

Inspiration for the Week

Matthew 28:18-20 - "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Desire of Ages, 821.1 - "To His disciples Christ said, You have been witnesses of My life of self-sacrifice in behalf of the world. You have witnessed My labors for Israel. Although they would not come unto Me that they might have life, although priests and rulers have done to Me as they listed, although they have rejected Me as the Scriptures foretold, they shall have still another opportunity of accepting the Son of God. You have seen that all who come to Me, confessing their sins, I freely receive. Him that cometh to Me I will in nowise cast out. All who will, may be reconciled to God, and receive everlasting life. To you, My disciples, I commit this message of mercy. It is to be given to Israel first, and then to all nations, tongues, and peoples. It is to be given to Jews and Gentiles. All who believe are to be gathered into one church."

Giving Light to Our World (GLOW)

Let every Seventh-day Adventist ask himself, “What can I do to proclaim the third angel's message?” Christ came to this world to give this message to His servant to give to the churches. It is to be proclaimed to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. How are we to give it? The distribution of our literature is one means by which the message is to be proclaimed. Let every believer scatter broadcast tracts and leaflets and books containing the message for this time. Colporteurs are needed who will go forth to circulate our publications everywhere.  - The Southern Watchman, January 5, 1904.
Conversation Question: “We’re blessed to live in a free country! But if that were taken away, which freedoms would you be willing to give up and which ones would you die for? Why?

This month’s emphasis is Gas Stations! Gas stations are great places to distribute GLOW. You can put tracts on the gas pump when you’re finished, either in the handle or the receipt slot, and even give tracts to people pumping gas, too. One unintimidating way to do this is to ask, “Can I leave a tract on your pump for the next person?” Normally, they will be interested in having one themselves, too!

Glow Ministry Ideas

  • When you are out shopping give GLOW tracts to everyone you can and leave them in the door handles of cars in the parking lot.
  • Go door to door with a small gift for parents on Parents Day (July 28) and it give away with GLOW.
